Preliminary design from the later ‘Fuso’ class series. The Japanese Navy did not split it’s preliminary design effort by class and they used a sequential naming for the same category warships, in our case ‘A’ series for battleships.

A-55 sported twelve of the earlier 12″/305mm weapons in a layout similar to the finally accepted design. Armor and speed was on the same scale.
